Please note: All applicants must be able to pass a criminal back ground investigation (CBI) along with a child abuse registry check. You must be willing to submit to finger printing and be willing to take unannounced drug testing.

Full Time Positions:

School Head Master/Administrator: Must have at least three years of school administrative experience both or either in private and public school administration. An administrative credential or certificate is recommended but not necessarily required. Must have experience in educational law, funding, pupil accountability, management, curriculum development, and posses a healthy supportive management style that recognizes the value of teacher and staff and can work within an residential treatment environment with students who have personal, psychological, family and academic struggles. Be aware of adolescent development and can work with troubled youth.  Additionally, experience with school accreditation process is a must.

Teachers:
All teachers must posses a healthy supportive personality style that recognizes the value of each individual learner and can work within a residential treatment environment with students who have personal, psychological, and family, problems. Some students will have had issues related to substance abuse and academic failure. Teachers who wish to be employed at Journey’s Quest RTC must be aware of adolescent development and can work with troubled youth. Likewise, they must not have substance related issues such as alcohol consumption, smoking or forms of substance use. Class sizes will be small. This is a year round school that will operate on a trimester system. All teacher must have appropriate state credential or be able to obtain these credentials.
English Teacher (Language Arts): English is taken every year. Traditional courses, such as American and English literature, help improve writing skills, reading comprehension, and vocabulary. Course work in Literature, Writing/composition and Speech

Math Teacher: Teach algebra and geometry to help students succeed on college entrance exams, in college math classes, and in most careers. Courses will include at least: Basic Math, Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II and for the advanced student Trigonometry, calculus, and/or statistics

Science Teacher: Teach science concepts that help students think analytically and apply theories to reality. Laboratory classes are part of this job assignment and will promote learning through hands-on work. Six semesters courses are recommended: Two semesters in biology, Two semesters in chemistry and/or physics, Two semesters in earth/space sciences, advanced biology, advanced chemistry, or physics.

Social Studies Teacher: Will teach social concepts that help the student understand local and world events that are happening now by studying the culture and history that has shaped them. Social sciences core curriculum includes the following: Two semesters in U.S. history, One semester of U.S. government, One semester in economics, One semester in world history or geography, One semester of political law.

Foreign Languages Teacher: Teach various courses in foreign languages such as Spanish, German, Chinese Mandarin, etc. A Solid foreign language study demonstrates a students readiness to enter into college. Many colleges require at least two years of foreign language study, and some prefer more. Additionally, for higher level students who have earned the privilege, possible abroad field trips should be incorporated into the course curriculum.

The Arts: Research indicates that students who participate in the arts often do better in school and on standardized tests. The arts help students recognize patterns, discern differences and similarities, and exercise your mind in unique ways, oftentimes outside of a traditional classroom setting. Arts curriculum may include: drawing, sculpturing, music, painting and other forms of creative expression. Theater performance and visits should be incorporated into the curriculum for real-life experiences.

Clinical Director: The CD must have at least 5 years of clinical supervision experience, be ACS certified or some other approved clinical supervision certification. Work well with clinical, educational and residential (Milieu) staff. Be willing to evaluate, oversee and provide supervision for clinical therapist. Likewise, engage in case reviews, review clinical notes, have strong reporting and writing skills. Know and understand clinical therapy, techniques, models and state laws and regulations, attended administrative meetings and be willing to ensure the integrity of the clinical program.

Clinical Therapist:
Once to full capacity, Journey’s Quest will hire 5 FT therapist and 1 certified substance abuse counselor to provide clinical services to young people and their families. The ratio will be 1 therapist to 15 youth. Job assignment includes individual, family, multi-family, therapy intervention. Additionally, each therapist will be assigned to conduct and co-facilitate groups sessions such as substance abuse, anger management, thinking errors, adoption and abandonment related issues, sexual abuse, male and female related issues, and residential life. Therapist should be expected to participate in parent workshops, outdoor adventures, and experiential exercises. You will be required to keep clinical notes, complete monthly Utilization reports, have accurate clinical notes and keep them current and attend monthly staffing of youth. Our therapist must love their work and love working with this population. Those who hold licensure as master level and above in psychology, clinical social work, clinical counselors and marriage and family therapist are invited to apply. You must have or be able to obtain licensure for your particular discipline in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Additionally, you must be an individual of strong moral convection, absent of substance related abuses, a non-smoker, non-drinker, and be able to work in an intense environment that has many wonderful returns servicing this population.

Milieu or Residential Day and Night Staff:
Must be at least 21 years old and have a high school degree or equivalent. Must have the ability to be trained. Milieu staff are under the direct supervision of the Milieu Mangers who are supervised by the Milieu Director. They are responsible for supervising youth during the day and teaching them behavioral modification, life skills training, education, take them to meals and conduct milieu related group therapy.  Additionally, milieu staff are responsible for keeping day and night logs, and all other related paper work associated with said care.
