Academic Support at Journey’s Quest

Residents shall attend daily academic school classes and work toward the completion of their high school diploma. As part of the intervention strategy, the center has implemented the school staff as an essential part of the treatment team. An assigned school staff will attend each student’s monthly case review and report on the academic progress, needs, and strengths of the resident. The school will provide academic support outside of normal classroom time and residents who are struggling will be placed in mandatory study hall and will be given ample opportunity and help by academic staff to complete work. This will include peer tutoring, as well as adult tutoring where needed.

The headmaster will work with the residents past school district to make sure all course work needing completion is addressed. Each resident will receive a educational plan that will outline their academic work while in attendance at the center. Parents will be part of the academic master plan and will aid the resident in the development of the academic course work to be taken.
